Film crew followed flock of sheep along scenic Utrecht route

ZEIST — Flocks of sheep have returned to the countryside and roads of the Netherlands, where entrepreneurial shepherds rent-a-flock to graze difficult to mow parks and road shoulders. Groups of enthusiasts have also reintroduced rare breeds of sheep for stock heritage considerations, while other hobbyists wish to preserve the heath with flocks of the woolly four-legged creatures. Last year September, two shepherds and their dog and a flock of sheep set out on a 100-kilometre journey across the Utrecht Heuvelrug (Hill Ridge), with a camera crew in tow. The resulting documentary shows the current status of the scenic and heritage-rich route, and recently received its first public screening.
