EMMELOORD – A Dutch convert to Islam has promised that his Muslim party plans to register for the country’s municipal elections in four cities and one rural district. Dutch Muslim Party chair Peter Kreeft says he anticipates entering a slate of candidates in likely another five more municipalities as well. Kreeft’s party, which strives for a more positive image of Islam, has both native Dutch citizens in its board as well as immigrants. The Netherlands has numerous political parties, but not all of them field candidates for elections. Kreeft joined the Islamic faith in the 1990s.
