BEESD – Decrying that an agricultural society such as the Netherlands lacks a National Agriculture Museum, three specialized museums are banding together to establish such an institute. A site has been found for the new museum: a large country estate in the area known as Betuwe. Initiators are the owners of the estate, the Farm Vehicle Museum which is in need of expansion, and the Historical Agricultural Technique Museum, part of the University of Wageningen, which plans to close it. The new museum, which would incorporate both collections and draw on other sources as well, could open as early as 2009.
